Built upon the ocean-front with its dramatic water vistas, the waves breaking against the black rocks upon which it stands, The Club is a new-age design destination with hi-style fundamentals that simply sizzles with attitude.

The 56-room Club is a hotel within a hotel and brings a lively new design edge with a simplistic charm to fundamental elements of the old world. Thus, tan gold and silver, mother-of-pearl and ivory, silk and vermillion - all suggesting the sumptuous pleasure of India, are coaxed into simple elegance, straight clean lines and understated luxury.

The Club is a new level of hospitality, which is conceptualized by the Leela Group for the discerning international traveler. The distinguishing factor is that every Club offering remains distinct from the other. The difference is not only in aesthetics and offering, but also, the location within each property. At the Leela Kovalam, most dramatic location has been selected for The Club.

Contemporary in design, linear and elegant, each club room features custom-made rattan amenities, pure leather bin and writing table folder, open wardrobes and plenty of glass to bring the outdoors in.

Rooms offer state-of-the-art LCD flat-screen television, DVD player (with a selection of 400 movies and music), wireless internet access, a stylish mini-bar, twin-headed massage shower heads, exclusive toiletries by English Classic and an electronic safe. An extravagant sense of scale marks the 50-metre flamed granite deck that fronts The Club and the ocean as well as the infinity pool, that offers riveting sunset views.

At the extreme left, a special sand deck has been created to give a beach effect atop the cliff. The sand stretch is surrounded by a banyan tree, landscaping and rocks, and provides and exclusive sit-out by the ocean.

Under red Mangalorean tiled eyebrows along the deck, recessed alcoves fitted with deep, cushioned leather sofas and loungers in off-white, invite guests to relax and read. The four, tiled-roof gazebos provide grandstand views of the sea and are idea for private dining.

"Sophistication is spelt in the way the service design weaves itself seamlessly through The Club's wine and food offering, its butler service, its architecture, design and technology. The Club offers a global culture while maintaining its ethnic Indian core,"

Bearing this out is The Club's exclusive The Café, an indoor-outdoor tropical eatery with 40 covers within and 44 seats on the deck, with white, all-weather wicker-seating, an open-kitchen and drop-dead views of the ocean-front.

The artwork in the Café is unique. Sepia pictures of Chinese fishing nets frame the sofa-fitted alcoves. The blue-black sofa furnishings are off-set with black lamps handing like pendants from the ceiling. Eternal bamboos in Lsa glass vases are the only ornaments on the tables. A Zen collection of 25 candles in a symmetrical gradient are lit every evening, bringing in a magical aura to the white tones of The Café. The show-kitchen is interactive and the Food Concierge customizes guest preferences.

"Yoga" is a practical aid, not a religion. It is an ancient art based on a harmonizing system of development for the body, mind and spirit. The word "YOGA" comes from the Sanskrit root "YUJ" which means "to join" or "to unite".

Yoga is a classical Indian science dealing with the search for the soul. The word Yoga signifies both the way to discover the soul and union with it. Yoga philosophy was systematized some 2000 years ago by sage Patanjali in a single treaties yoga sutra. It is built on a foundation of ethics (yama) and personal discipline (niyama). These are universal precepts found in all societies. Yoga is a practical philosophy involving every aspect of a person's being. It sharpens the intellect and aids concentration, steadies emotion and encourages caring concern for others and above all gives hope to life and well being. The practice of breathing techniques calms the mind. Through meditation inner peace is experienced. In the realm of the spiritual, yoga brings awareness and the ability to be still. Continued practice of Yoga will give you a sense of peace, wellbeing and above all a feeling of being at one with your environment.

Health is a balanced state of bodily element and of all anatomical physiological systems where each part of the body functions at full potential.

Spirituality completes full health and puts human affairs in the perspective of the universal. Striving towards this goal is the main aim of Yoga.
